Thomas Huxley, the Victorian scientist who was known as ‘Darwin’s bulldog’ for his fierce defence of the idea of evolution, has fallen from favour. A bust of him on public display at Imperial College London is likely to be removed, despite the fact that he argued strongly for the abolition of slavery and for equal rights of women to attend university. &
