Chronos and Breeze recently moved to their own dens at Animals Asia's Vietnam sanctuary. They'd spent some time in quarantine where our bear care team built up their strength and confidence after spending around 20 years living in small, dark cages on bile farms. After settling into their new surroundings and meeting each other through the door between their dens, they were ready to meet each other properly - the first bear each of them had ever met. As bears are naturally solitary animals, and bears on bile farms can't interact with others, the process of integrating them at sanctuary is a carefully considered and planned process. Our team watches interactions closely, monitoring the bears' reactions and ensuring they're safe and happy. It doesn't always go exactly to plan, but in Chronos and Breeze's case we're delighted to say it went better than we could have hoped for!
