Lucas the elephant calf plays in snow

If you thought kids like playing in the snow on warm winter days, wait until you see a young elephant calf try it! The video above shows Lucas, a two year old elephant calf, having fun in the snow. Although Lucas and his mother Renee could move freely into their barn to warm up any time they wanted to, Lucas repeatedly ventured outside to play. In the video he climbs on snow piles, digs in the snow, and trumpets playfully. Throughout the year, the Toledo Zoo provides multiple enrichment activities for the elephants but having free, natural snow is apparently just as appealing to young Lucas as well!
