“Listen To The Music“ was released in the summer of 1972 on The Doobie Brothers second album, Toulouse Street. The album name refers to the name of a street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. This song is my favorite by The Doobie Brothers and is another one that takes me back to a very clear time and place of my youth. I always associate this song and album with my mom and dad's fancy (then!) new color t.v./record player in the living room. This thing was a oak, huge speakers at each end and the top on each end opened was the record player and the other was an A.M./F.M. 8-track (not much use for F.M. in my part of the world at that time since we were too far to pick up any man San Antonio's king of A.M. radio KTSA was playing through that thing literally for anytime I didn't have a record spinning! LOL!). Toulouse Street is also one of my first favorite album stylish & unusual matte photography and the texture of the album cover itself was even different. In those days, they sometimes did unusual things with record lettering, and textured paper. For anyone listening to this tune, not old enough to remember what I'm talking guess you'd have had to have been there! ;-) Anyway.....“Listen To The Music“ remains one of my favorite classic rock tracks for all these reasons but mainly because it's just a really beautiful, groovy that's always guaranteed to make you feel better after you listen to it. This would have been a great video for my 200th upload (I already had another edited for that number or I would have made it so) since it perfectly reiterates and captures what drives me to make these it's all about for those of us for whom music is so much more than just songs that have touched our souls and been a huge part of our TO THE MUSIC! As usual SPECIAL THANKS to everyone who's art made this new art YOU!!!!! [Lyrics] Don't you feel it growin', Day by day People Gettin' ready for the news Some are happy, Some are sad Wo, we got to let the music play Wo, oh yeah What the people need Is a way to make 'em smile It ain't so hard to do if you know how Gotta get a message Get it on through Oh now mama's goin' to after awhile Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music All the time Well I know, You know better Everything I say Meet me in the country for a day We'll be happy And we'll dance Wo, we're gonna dance the blues away Wo, oh yeah And if I'm feelin' good to you And you're feelin' good to me There ain't nothin' we can't do or say Feelin' good, Feeling fine Wo, baby, let the music play Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music All the time Like a lazy flowing river Surrounding castles in the sky And the crowd is growing bigger List'nin' for the happy sounds And I got to let 'em fly Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music All the time Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music All the time God, we gotta let the music play! lossless flac
