This is the Steam Clock in Gas Town in Vancouver, BC. You can hear it whistle the hour at the end of the video. Built in 1977, this well-known, antique-style clock is powered by steam & whistles to tell the time. While it may not seem all that impressive to Vancouverites, the Gastown steam clock is one of the only functioning steam-powered clocks in the world. The Gastown steam clock was made by Canadian clockmaker Raymond Saunders. At the time, it was considered either the first or second steam-powered clock ever built. Incorporating a steam engine and electric motors, the clock displays the time on four faces and announces the quarter hours with a whistle chime that plays the Westminster Quarters. The clock produces a puff of steam from its top on the hour.
