Today, the strategic nuclear submarine Prince Pozharsky of Project 955A Borey was launched on the Sevmash in Severodvinsk. This is the eighth Borei-class submarine and the fifth, which is being built according to the revised project 955A. 2 more submarines of project 955A are under construction. Their length is 170 meters, and their underwater displacement is about 24,000 tons. Each submarine of this type carries 16 modern intercontinental ballistic missiles “Bulava“. The strategic submarines of Project 955 Borey replaced the obsolete missile carriers of Project 667BDR Kalmar and the excessively expensive Soviet-built missile carriers of Project 941 Akula.
