In an interview with Charlamagne, Kamala Harris addressed the topic of reparations for Black Americans, descendants of slaves brought to the United States 300 years ago. Many people came away with the impression that she promised reparations, though, strictly speaking, she only promised to study a reparations plan—a nuance that may not be clear to everyone. Nonetheless, this could secure additional support among Black voters. “My agenda, well, first of all, on the reparations plan... It has to be studied, there’s no question about it. I’ve been very clear about this position,“ she said. However, an important question arises: When determining who is entitled to reparations and how much, could an internal settlement be possible for those with both slave ancestors and slave-owning ancestors, as in the case of Kamala Harris herself, for example?
