Warming up at soundcheck before my performance at Rochester Jazz Festival. Prior to most of my shows, I usually play scales for about 15 minutes, and warm up with different songs to acquaint myself with the piano. I decided to record my soundcheck and got some nice takes. Here’s “Variations on a Bach Prelude.” This piece has a symmetric (almost) jazz standard-esque form. Essentially it's playing through the Bach original score and then looping it while playing variations/improvisations before eventually coming back to the original score — hope you enjoy.
