The Catholic church has long known that vampires exist. It is discovered that vampires led by Valek are searching for a powerful doom for mankind. The Vatican secretly enlists a new team of vampire-hunters, led by Jack Crow (James Woods), to hunt down and destroy the vampires before they find the crucifix. John Carpenter cast James Woods because he wanted his character Jack Crow “to be as savage as the prey he’s going after.“ Woods himself took interest in the project because it was something different from his usual stereotyping as a villain in films as he would now be the hero, James Woods considers this to be his greatest film he has been in by stating; “In todays world (1998) how many times can you go around and kill bitches and faggots, blow shit up and still come out as cool good guy ? , Carpenter gave me the opportunity and I took it!“ Sheryl Lee who played Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks plays the sexy whore again! Sadly this will most likely be John Carpenters last film.
