Extreme weather continues to impact China. Heavy rains hit the southwestern provinces of the country. Heavy rains have pummeled Baoji, triggering devastating flash floods, landslides, and mudflows. In a dramatic move to prevent a dam breach, all four gates of the Hanzhong Shimen Reservoir were opened, unleashing a torrent of water downstream. The city is facing its worst floods in decades, with submerged streets, paralyzed transportation, and thousands evacuated. The situation remains critical as Baoji braces for continued downpours and grapples with the aftermath of this historic deluge. More flooding is expected in the Three Gorges Dam area in China. In July, the water level in the reservoir rose to a record level of more than 150 meters. Rain is forecast in the coming days. More than 20 cars fell into the river as a result of the partial collapse of a road bridge in Zhushui County, Shaanxi Province, China. In the west, China's largest city, Chongqing, is recovering from heavy rainfall. The resulting floods washed away cars, destroyed roads and trapped people in their homes. Thousands of local residents were forced to leave their homes. At the same time, showers will continue there for several more days. In total, the floods affected more than 20 million people in southern China. #china #flood
