В Вирджинии есть даже целый город без телевизоров и беспроводного интернета. Во Всемирной организации здравоохранения опасности в электроволнах не видят. Однако некоторые учёные считают, что излучение может вызывать рак, бесплодие, ухудшение памяти и другие заболевания. Согласны с ними и в Международной федерации защитников окружающей среды. Там утверждают, что влияние электромагнитного поля на человека ещё недостаточно изучено. Чтобы напомнить миру об этом, организация ввела 8 ноября Всемирный день без Wi-Fi.
