The government's independent social cohesion adviser, Dame Sara Khan, has issued a warning about the concerning levels of harassment, which she says are a significant threat to democracy. Ahead of the publication of her review on Monday, Dame Sara revealed that over 75% of the public feel pressured to censor their opinions. Additionally, 27% have altered their lifestyles, including hiring security or changing jobs or homes. As part of her recommendations, Dame Sara proposes the creation of exclusion zones for protests near schools. This suggestion stems from an incident at Batley Grammar School in West Yorkshire, where a religious studies teacher had to go into hiding after showing a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed during a lesson three years ago.
