| 3:30 AM | CAMP PENDLETON - Dramatic moments unfolded after a high speed pursuit ended with the car flying off a bridge and catching fire Saturday morning. CHP Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle southbound I-5 at Lake Forest Drive in the Irvine area, however the driver fled southbound at speeds in excess of 100 MPH. CHP Oceanside successfully spiked the vehicle SB I-5 at Cockleburr Road. A few miles later, at the Santa Margarita River, the vehicle went off the west side of the freeway and down an embankment, landing just feet from the river. As officers tried to pull the injured driver out of the vehicle, the engine began to catch fire. Multiple fire extinguishers were thrown down to officers but thick brush made it difficult to locate Officers jumped on top of the vehicle and pulled the driver out of the passenger side door. Camp Pendleton Fire arrived shortly after and was able to extinguish the fully engulfed car on fire. The man is believed to be under the influence of alcohol CH
