NATO is reportedly considering securing the airspace over Western Ukraine and training troops in Ukraine. Here are the discussions that are reported to be happening between allies: Germany and Lithuania want to send troops to Ukraine to train Ukrainians there instead of bringing them to their country. The reason for this is reportedly efficiency. The UK, Canada, and others are developing “advanced logistics”. So instead of delivering weapons and ammo to the border, they’ll just bring it straight to the front lines. And Poland is leading the major discussion here which is protecting western Ukraine’s airspace with NATO anti-air systems. The rationale for this is that there is a limit to how many air defense systems a country can reasonably give away And so NATO members would get to keep their systems, they wouldn’t have to train Ukrainians, and their troops would gain real world experience. Last week Zelensky proposed this as well saying that this wouldn’t lead to a direct confrontation. The United States is reported to have expressed reservations about all of this —————————— Produced by: Ben Wheeler, Philip DeFranco Edited by: Ben Wheeler Art Department: William Crespo Writing/Research: Ben Wheeler, Philip DeFranco ———————————— #usa #ukraine #nato
