The Laugavegur Trail is probably Iceland's most famous hiking trail that showcases some of Iceland's most stunning natural landscapes. The trail stretches approximately 55 kilometers (34mi) from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk. Often the trail is combined with the Fimmvörðuháls, which adds another 25 kilometers to Skógar on the ocean in the south. With filming I completed about 100 kilometers (62mi) of hiking in 48 hours. On day 1 I took the bus from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar where I started my hike. The hike passes by the colorful rhyolite mountains around Landmannalaugar, over infamously windy pass of Hrafntinnusker to the green valley of Álftavatn, straight from paradise. I passed the Alftavatn Hut and camped at the Hvanngil Hut. On day 2 I continued the trail passing the moonlight landscape of the Emstrur (Botnar) valley to get to Þórsmörk. I passed the Emstrur Hut, the Hattafell mountain (green mountain in black sand) and the Langidalur Hut. I camped the night at the Básar Hut. I got an early start on day 3 to beat the weather that was expected later that day and started the Fimmvörðuháls Trail. I climbed up to the Fimmvörðuháls pass and passed by the Magni volcano that erupted in 2010. At the pass you can see 2 massive glaciers on both sides of the pass: Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökul. I had lunch at the Fimmvörðuháls Hut and descended down towards the ocean via the Baldvínskali Hut to 'waterfall alley' where the trail ends at Skógafoss, the most famous waterfall of Iceland. Interested in doing this hike? Check out the travel guide () which explains everything you need to know: how to make reservations, how to get there, what to see along the way, when to go, the weather, and much more. Included is a Custom Google Maps and GPX-files. This is an ambient film without dialog. ► TIMESTAMPS 0:00 Drone intro 1:14 Day 1 - Colorful Landmannalaugar 4:49 Paradise valley Álftavatn 6:58 Day 2 - On the moon 12:11 Þórsmörk 13:49 Day 3 - Glaciers of Fimmvörðuháls 18:32 Waterfalls 20:07 Skógafoss - Iceland's famous waterfall 20:39 Photos outro #iceland #laugavegur #Fimmvörðuháls #camping #hiking #solohiking
