The situation in Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital is dire, according to one Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) doctor. ‘There has been no electricity. There is no water. There is no food. Our team is exhausted,’ said Dr. Mohammed Obeid. ‘We have two neonate patients who died because the incubator is not working because there is no electricity.’ Israel has denied that the hospital is under ‘siege’ and has said that civilians are free to leave. But, as Dr. Obeid points out, it isn’t that simple. ‘[Israel’s military] hit everything around the hospital. And they’ve hit the hospital many times. We have about 600 admitted patients, post-operative, who need medical care. So, the situation is very, very bad. We need help. No one hears us,’ he said. Israel has denied launching strikes against the hospital, and also justified them claiming Hamas is using it as a base.
