Are you interested in learning more about the exploration of outer space? Join this lecture on April 23 and learn about the largest space telescope ever and how it helps humanity discover new worlds! The James Webb Space Telescope is the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. It is the largest space telescope ever constructed and is giving humanity its first high-definition view of the infrared universe. Webb observes early epochs of the universe that Hubble cannot see to reveal how its galaxies and structure have evolved over cosmic time. The Webb Telescope explores the formation and evolution of stars and planetary systems, searching exoplanet atmospheres for evidence of life. Speaker: Matt Greenhouse, Astrophysicist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (Emeritus). He has served on the James Webb Space Telescope senior staff as Project Scientist for the Webb science instrument payload since 1997. He specializes in infrared imaging spectroscopy, development of related instrumentation and technologies, flight project science, and technical management. Matt has also served on several NASA and European Space Agency (ESA) flight mission teams.
