During the Corona years 2020-2022, for the first time in history, national policies of almost all countries have been „harmonized“ and brought into global lockstep. Whereas the overall pattern was astonishingly similar, some countries went particularly far in implementing strict Corona measures: Germany is a sad example of this. While other countries had already been celebrating “Freedom Day“, politicians in Germany misinterpreted the Omicron variant as particularly dangerous and worked politically towards general mandatory vaccinations for the population - which ultimately failed in April 2022 in the Bundestag, the German parliament. Throughout the winter of 2021/2022, unvaccinated people in Germany were excluded from social life beyond supermarket, townhall and doctor, and bullied by the media on a daily basis. Politicians, political advisors and public figures in Germany who took part in the social exclusion of the unvaccinated still refuse to discuss or come to terms with what happened. This German “Die Welle“ experiment was accompanied politically by a so-called “Corona Expert Council“, which was made up of politically hand-picked personnel who offered politicians the backing they needed to present restricting fundamental rights as scientifically necessary. I produced a documentary about the German Corona Expert Council and Corona measures regime, which was released in German three weeks ago. I synchronized the film in English because I believe that Germany should serve as a deterrent example. While Sweden, for example, took the path of sense of proportion and reason, Germany chose the path of escalation – the path of a crackdown on the basic rights of citizens, the path towards an irreversibel division of society. The film focuses on the protocols of the Expert Council, which were obtained via FOIA by the physician Christian Haffner, and handed out by the German Federal Chancellery only in partially redacted form. The legal fight for transparency concerning these documents is still ongoing. In part 1, I deal with the questionable role of the German “corona experts“. The focus is on the question of how the numerous restrictions on fundamental rights, anti-democratic derailments such as 2G (vaccinated or cured only) or 3G (vaccinated, cured or tested only), strict contact restrictions for unvaccinated people, compulsory vaccination in institutions, compulsory masks and tests for children at school, bans on demonstrations and professions could come about in the winter of 2021/22 in Germany - as well as the sad long-term results: massive vaccination damage, above- average sick leave and statistically significant excess mortality. Part 2 - “Epilogue - How did we even get there?“ - is a zoom out of the Expert Council case into the bigger picture: a chronological journey through the years 2016-2023, with a focus on Germany, embedded in the international course of the events. My heartfelt thanks go to the physician Christian Haffner, who successfully sued the protocols of the Corona Expert Council, and Mario Martin, who taught me how to make films - his untimely death last year moved me deeply, therefore this film is primarily dedicated to Mario. I would like to thank my wonderful English speaker Paul Tsakarisianos, my voice editor Linski, Andreas Sparberg, Marc Friedrich, Christian Klopf, Stefanie, P3likan, Stefan, Jens, Daddy Boom, I.P., C.E., Bastian Barucker, Matthias von Koblinski, Tom-Oliver Regenauer, the hard-working researchers at CORONA RAF and the Social Engineering Archive, Bobby Rajesh Malhotra, Simon Goddek, Jim Haslam, Snicklink, Philippe Debionne, Earlyhaver, MeowMuhCow, Kevin McKernan, DRASTIC and US Right To Know.
