10 февраля исполняется 132 года со дня рождения Бориса Пастернака Dear Mr. Tarantino, We are reaching out to you on behalf of the citizens of the town Kasimov, the Ryazan region. The house you are looking at, or to be precise what's left of it, is Dr Zhivago's. It once belonged to Osip Kaufmann, Boris Pasternak's uncle, who worked as the head physician at the Kasimov hospital. Some people believe that Dr Zhivago and Kaufmann look alike. Pasternak came to Kasimov to escape from the horrors of the Civil war and the famine gripping Moscow. Many literal critics consider our town the prototype of the town Yuryatin from the novel. It is known that Pasternak persuaded his parents to move to Kasimov which for him was a safe place and Russian Marburg where much of pre-revolutionary Russia had remained. Mr Tarantino, we know about your love and devotion to the Russian literature and your special spiritual connection with Boris Pasternak. We have seen photos of you visiting his grave. Mr Tarantino, as you can see the house is in miserable condition. Part of the building was burned down. Nobody lives in it now and in the cold season homeless people come here to stay warm. We want to preserve this house as a piece of that pre-revolutionary Russia which was dear to Boris Pasternak's heart and turn this house into a museum. It is embarrassing to reach out to you for help but unfortunately the local authorities left us no choice. All our complaints were in vain. Officials say there is nothing they can do as they have no funds for the reconstruction of this building. We are reaching out to you because you love and appreciate Russian culture much more than an average Russian official. Please help us restore this historical place of our town, of our country. Needless to say, you are always welcome to visit our town Contact phone 7(953)747-02-93 WhatsApp/Telegram
