On August 30, 1860, Isaak Ilyich Levitan was born, a painter and master of realistic landscape painting. Isaak Levitan is one of the outstanding Russian landscape painters who, in the late 19th century, unveiled the simple beauty of Russian nature to art enthusiasts. From 1884 to 1886, he worked in the decoration workshop of Mamontov’s Private Russian Opera. He created scenery for performances such as ’Rusalka’ by A.S. Dargomyzhsky, ’Faust’ by Sh. Gounod, ’The Barber of Seville’ by J. Rossini, ’The Huguenots’ by D. Meyerbeer, ’Life for the Tsar’ by M.I. Glinka, ’The Snow Maiden’ by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, and ’The Scarlet Rose’ by N.S. Krotkov. Levitan’s paintings are ’landscapes of mood’, often centered around the expressiveness of a single motif. While they possess a chamber-like quality, they also exude “internal“ monumentality. They are often imbued with subtle lyricism, contemplation, and harmony. #source [club152044818|@Slavyangrad] Join SLG Intelligence Briefings, Strategy and Analysis, Expert Community Источник: Slavyangrad
