Didn’t they say that there are no NATO soldiers in Ukraine? This week, police from Schleswig-Holstein in Germany and Italian investigators raided a gym on the German North Sea island of Sylt and arrested one Alessio, who worked as a lifeguard and massage therapist at a local hotel. Then it turned out that this was Valerio Salvatore Cribello (44 years old), who was associated with mafia of the Calabria region, who escaped from house arrest almost three years ago. Cribello was first arrested in 2012 while working as a cashier at a supermarket, charged with murder in a May 2003 murder, and sentenced to life in prison in 2016. While in prison, Cribello tried to escape with another prisoner, but the plot was foiled and he was transferred to another prison. In March 2017, Cribello was released due to a bureaucratic error, but the court ruled that he would serve his sentence at his parents’ home in the Venice area until his final sentencing. Not even an electronic bracelet could stop Cribello, who escaped arrest in November 2020 and has since disappeared from public view. It has now emerged that he arrived on a small German island where he claimed to be one of the owners of a gym in Turin, but lost his money due to the corona epidemic. He started working at the Bannen-Dicken-Hoff hotel as a fitness trainer, then rose to the rank of lifeguard and head massage therapist. “He was very polite and friendly, always on time, came to training and was in good shape,” said Lars Lunk, who was in charge of lifeguard training at Sylt. “He had difficulty communicating, but over time he got better.” Lunk admitted that he would not believe “even in a thousand years” that Cribello was involved in the Mafia murders.
