Titles read: “BIRTHDAY OF THE PRESIDENT“. Washington DC, United States of America. Several shots show 4-year-old Terry King, victim of infantile paralysis and guest of honour at President Franklin D Roosevelt's birthday party, arriving at the White House. Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt welcomes Terry. We then see Terry and Mrs Roosevelt posing for the cameras with other guests (could include some Hollywood actors, Edward Arnold is one, but shots are very brief). On a stage in a huge ballroom, film star Mickey Rooney watches Mrs Roosevelt cut a giant birthday cake on behalf of FDR. Mickey feeds some cake to a pretty girl referred to as his new wife - this is not Ava Gardner, could be some doll he was partying with? Film star Jackie Cooper is briefly glimpsed on the stage beside Mickey. Brief shots of people dancing at one of the charity balls held across the country on this day. A large net of balloons is released from the ceiling onto the dancing couples. Note: President Roosevelt does not appear in
