India’s airline industry is facing a major crisis, with over 70 flights receiving bomb threats in the past week. While none of these threats have been credible, they have led to delays, diversions, and panic among passengers and authorities. One of the most high-profile cases involved an Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago, which had to divert to Iqaluit, Canada, stranding passengers and requiring a rescue from the Royal Canadian Air Force. These bomb threats are being made by anonymous social media accounts, with one now-suspended X/Twitter account (@adamlanza111) posting threats targeting dozens of flights across various airlines. Indian authorities are treating each threat with utmost seriousness, and one minor has been apprehended in connection with the threats. However, the issue of anonymous threats from VPN-protected accounts poses challenges in tracking down the culprits.
