On August 7th, “Officer Christopher Allen Day” was proclaimed in honor of Officer Allen, who was recognized as the “Citizen of the Month” by Councilwoman Nancy Brune of Ward 6. This recognition was in response to events that unfolded on June 20, 2024. While driving home on the 215, LVMPD Summerlin Area Command Officer Allen noticed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the opposite side of the median. He immediately called 911 to report the emergency and followed the vehicle. Tragically, a head-on collision occurred when the wrong-way driver collided with oncoming vehicles. Without hesitation, Officer Allen pulled over, climbed over the median, and rushed to help the victims whose vehicles had become engulfed in flames. Sadly, two individuals lost their lives, but Officer Allen’s heroic efforts to render aid in such a chaotic situation did not go unnoticed.
