Modern One Piece has beautiful animation, epic story arcs, and decades worth of development and carefully cultivated lore behind it, but goddamn if I don't miss the earlier, simpler days of One Piece. I only started watching One Piece a year ago, yet strangely those early opening and early 2000s style animation still manages to evict a deep sense of nostalgia, making me wish I could just turn back the clock on everything and return to a time when things seemed simpler too.
