I first heard “Is He Worthy?” when Andrew Peterson introduced it during his Christmas show, Behold The Lamb Of God, which I was invited to be a part of, at the Ryman Auditorium last December. The song struck me as an instant hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck raiser; an readily accessible, reverent, and ancient-feeling hymn of worship. And I loved the idea of writing a modern liturgy. If it sounds as though I’m answering my own questions in this song, it’s because Andrew wrote this with a “call and response” worked into the structure. The idea is that the audience would be singing “We do/It is/He is, etc,” in agreement with the lead singer. But with me, alone in my studio, you’ll either have to use your imagination, or better yet, sing along. I love this song, and I hope you enjoy my version - a very fitting cover for Holy Week and Easter. Get Andrew Peterson’s album Resurrection Letters, Vol.1 and watch his music video here:
