Some watch the sabre, some the straight sword. But for us we watch the spear to see the weapons work of a teacher. Frankly not that many are top notch. This is a nice long set with many changes. The structure of the set even adds footwork and angles not generally found with spear. Instructor Sun also shows the set with the practiced grace and general aplomp of all his movements. Here is a style that combines “Internal“ arts such as BaGua with “external“ such as Shaolin. Coiling Dragon emphasizes flexibility and elongated muscles. The movements combine the powerful and the loose with an unusual harmony and balance. Not a lot of sets but each one significant. Demonstrator: Sun Xiang is a direct disciple in the Sun family of their Coiling Dragon inheritance. He is the official coach of the China Police University and his moves show a non-nonsense attitude.
