As if he still had to prove himself to be definitively accepted, he embarked on an easily-accessible post-bop formula that seemed to have all of recent jazz history in mind. An understated virtuoso, he delivered very subtle interpretations—with appropriate silences and not overly sharp breaks—of “Hot House,” “Autumn Leaves,” “Donna Lee,” “I Remember Clifford,” “Ah-Leu -Cha,” “Smooch,” Bouncing With Bud,” “Woody'n You,” “A Night in Tunisia,” and “When Will the Blues Leave.” He wove triangular connections with his loyal Cuban counterpart, Julio Barreto, and a majestic Ron Carter. The Munich audience was won over, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba became the go-between for other Cuban virtuoso pianists such as Alfredo Rodriguez. 🎥 Watch our well-curated playlists Full CONCERTS The GREATEST HITS Legendary ARCHIVE GEMS Captivating DOCUMENTARIES Follow Qwest TV Website: Instagram: Facebook: Twitter: Qwest TV is Quincy Jones' video streaming network celebrating Black Music & Global Sounds through premium documentaries, live concerts, archive gems and interviews showcasing the greatest musicians of all time!
