Nineteen year old English musician Oldfield played most of the instruments on the original 1973 album release of “Tubular Bells,” which was a 49 minute piece spread over both sides of the LP. It gained worldwide attention when the introduction to Part One was famously featured in the soundtrack of the hit 1973 supernatural thriller “The Exorcist.” This popular 45 single track was created in the U.S. by splicing together various elements from the LP’s Side One. Oldfield, who had not authorized the North American single treatment, did not allow its commercial release in the UK but instead created a very different newly-recorded 45 titled “Mike Oldfield’s Single (Theme from Mike Oldfield’s album ‘Tubular Bells’)” UK peaks: 30 (MM, NME), 31 (BMRB) Pop Chart Peaks: Record World 5, Cash Box 6, Billboard 7 - A/C Peak: 15 Transferred from stereo 45 single Virgin 55100 - Tubular Bells (Now The Original Theme From “The Exorcist”) (M.
