Former counter extremism coordinator, Charlotte Littlewood speaks to Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips on TalkTV's CrossTalk about how Rishi Sunak is trying to calm the waters after George Galloway, one of the most divisive political figures in recent history, won the Rochdale by-election and is due to be sworn in to Parliament today. She said that the reason the Prime Minister was so slow at reacting is that he is facing an election and this is a bid for votes rather than a pro-active approach to tackling extremism and that, “What we need is less rhetoric and more implementation.“ Kev and Alex ask her what needs to be done to tackle extremism, she replied, “There needs to be a stop to letting hate preachers in to the country and records show that since 2016, there has been 9 entrants who call for the death of blasphemers.“ Charlotte went on to explain that there needs to be more linguistic expertise to ascertain what kind of speeches these people are making. In schools, teaching what democracy is and what it means to be a citizen in the UK. There has been a report showing a 173% rise in antisemitic incidents in schools in 2022, yet nothing has been done about that report, yet Rishi Sunak now talks about changing the definition of extremism. Charlotte finishes by saying that she could write a 10 point plan of what the Prime Minister should be doing to tackle extremism as we have, “failed on so many corners“, referring to how the problem has been dealt with so far. #crosstalk #kevinosullivan #alexphillips #extremism #primeminister #rishisunak #government Click here for more from TalkTV If you need any help visit:
