Entrancement (US) - Of Passion's Cruelty (Album 2023)

Finally, on the band's 5th year of existence, Entrancement finally delivers unto us its debut full-length opus. Quite different from the project's material upon its inception, I'd say this album follows closely along the lines of the split with The Seer's excellent Midnight Betrothed. With much more emphasis on the romantic but death-tinged melodies, often resembling the dense and saccharine serpentine riffing in Vothana, but nonetheless losing the knife-edged aggression and tone that characterizes plenty of the Perverse Homage brethren, Entrancement deliver a brilliant record, with more daring songwriting and longer structures that definitely work in unsettling the listener, creating an atmosphere of dread that is both seductive and charming through its dazzling melodies, as it is eerie and suffocating, as created by the excellent 90's inspired keyboard work and the ever scorching vocal delivery.
