Abingdon, Cambridgeshire. Various shots of a large family - the Gregorys - having their tea together. We see them leaving the house, the girls wear headscarves and dungarees. They are a family of farmers. Narration explains that the Gregorys have what we all dream of: a home, a bit of land, peace and happiness among our loved ones. The Gregorys have found their way out of the pre-war depression by acquiring this farm. It is on an estate run by the Land Settlement Association - set up to give people like the Gregorys the right kind of start. Various shots of work on the farm. Mrs Gregory milks a goat and Mr Gregory feeds the pigs. Feeding hens and geese. The girls - Brenda, Olive and Betty - work in a large greenhouse. They pick tomatoes. Glass cloches are used to encourage tomato plants to grow - we see Mr and Mrs Gregory at work amongst their plants. Reaping machine is used to cut corn - these machines can be hired from the estate.
