Possession and Exorcism in Ancient Israel - Judaism

While it is often forgotten, Judaism has a long history in the development and history of spiritual / demonic possession and exorcism. In this episode of Esoteric, we explore the first 1000 years of this developments. From Ancient Israel and their neighbors, the Egyptians and Mesopotamians, we explore the rise of angels and demons in the apocalyptic movement, before turning to explore several major figures such as the Essenes, Jesus of Nazareth, Philo of Alexandria, and the Roman-Jewish historian Josephus.
