A 518 km drive from Tokyo to Osaka, the 2nd largest city in Japan, through the Tomei Expressway, the Isewangan Expressway, and the Shin Tomei Expressway. The drive begins at 5:30 a.m. at Tokyo Station Yaesu side. We soon take the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway and later the Tomei Expressway. The route passes through Tokyo, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Aichi, Mie, Shiga, and Kyoto Prefecture before reaching Osaka around 15:30. I used the Tomei EXPWY in this drive. However, you can reach Osaka much more quickly using the Shin Tomei EXPWY (“Shin“ means “New“ in Japanese), which runs in parallel with Tomei and has a higher speed limit (120 km/h) with three lanes.
