Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on Sunday (Jun 2) that diplomacy - in the form of a peace summit in Switzerland - was the best way to end a “cruel war“ that has killed thousands in his country since 2022. Mr Zelenskyy attended the security forum over the weekend with a strategic intent to shore up support for the peace conference later this month. Sir John Chipman, executive chairman of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, which organises the Shangri-La Dialogue, shares with CNA's Olivia Siong whether it took much convincing to bring Mr Zelenskyy to Singapore.
