If you blame others for your current situation, feel you have no control over your life, think others should feel sorry for you, or believe everyone has it better than you, you might be suffering from a victim mentality. Many people with victim mentalities start out being real victims of some injustice or hardship in life, often as a child or young person. If this is you, you may have developed certain coping strategies which helped you to survive traumatic or painful experiences. These coping strategies, while they may have helped you to survive the past, could now be hindering your progress towards a happy and fulfilled life.
