This is a demonstration of one of the most popular social Irish group (ceili) dances, 'The Walls of Limerick'. It is also one of the easiest dances to learn! Dancers line up two opposite two. the dance consists of four movements: advance and retire (twice), exchange places (with the person diagonally opposite), go away (with the person opposite), and spin (with your partner). Couples keep moving along the line, ending each spin facing the same way as they started, until they reach the end of the line, then turn as a couple and come back along the line. So eventually everyone gets to dance with everyone else! Note: This is not the version required for an examination in Irish dance, it is the social version! Performed by dancers from Niall O'Leary's ceili dancing class in New York City
