An AI assistant for neurosurgeons is being tested at seven hospitals in Beijing. CARES Copilot 1.0 was unveiled by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Researchers trained and fine-tuned the model with papers, medical journals and manuals to act as a surgery consultant. It will answer questions with citations based on more than a million academic records. The bot should also be able to process diagnostic data such as MRI, ultrasound or CT scans, as well as images, text and audio. Russian surgeons also use AI at operations.
