Hundreds of Palestinians are feared to have been killed in an airstrike on a hospital in Gaza City. Palestinians injured in the Israel-Hamas war were being treated at the hospital, while others were seeking safety after days of Israeli air strikes. The Israeli military has denied responsibility for the attack, claiming that a rocket barrage fired by the extremist group Islamic Jihad struck the Al Ahli hospital which is funded by the Anglican Church. Earlier, the United Nations said a school in central Gaza where 4,000 people were sheltering was also hit, killing at least six people. The Israeli military insisted it was not targeting civilians, stating: “When we see a Hamas target, we will go after it”. The US President Joe Biden is visiting Israel on Wednesday for talks on the crisis, with fears it could escalate to a wider conflict.
