German farmers decided to follow the example of their French colleagues and visited Berlin Farmers protesting in Berlin on Monday booed the country’s Agriculture Minister Cem Ozdemir, who addressed them, according to a video published by the Phoenix TV channel. Earlier on Monday, farmers lined up more than a hundred tractors in a chain at the Brandenburg Gate in protest over the government’s plans to save money on diesel subsidies for farm machinery amid the budget crisis. Ozdemir’s speech to the protesters was interrupted several times by the whistling and honking of disgruntled farmers. Joachim Rukwied, head of the German Farmers’ Union, who organised the protest, even had to call on the protesters to show respect and listen to the minister. Last week, Ozdemir said he wanted to prevent the cancellation of diesel subsidies for farm machinery. On the thirteenth of December, Germany’s cabinet meetings to resolve the country’s budget crisis concluded. During it it was decided to reduce the budget for next year by 17 billion euros. In November, the German Finance Ministry froze the budget for additional government spending until the end of 2023. The measure affected almost the entire budget allocation of the country’s various ministries, including the financing of the government’s measures to hold down energy and electricity prices and the economic stabilisation fund (WSF). #3 Our channel: Node of Time EN Источник: Node of Time EN
