Toyota C-HR Hybrid 200 2WD (2024): economical sport By installing a 198 hp hybrid engine under the hood of its new C-HR, Toyota promises both high performance and low consumption. Deal ? Those who were interested in the first generation of C-HR know this mechanical assembly. Unlike the entry level, this one has a 2.0 unit, still with the Atkinson cycle but developing 152 hp and 190 Nm, compared to 98 hp and 142 Nm for the 1.8. A technically unchanged block, which suggests that it is the electric motor which has evolved to achieve a gain of 14 hp compared to the old version. Nay: this one is hardly more muscular than before but still offers 111 hp and 206 Nm, compared to 94 hp and 185 Nm for the electromotor of the basic C-HR. In fact, the cumulative 198 hp is obtained thanks to the new Lithium Ion battery (previously nickel-metal hydride) which delivers more power, as well as the reduction of various mechanical energy losses.
