Sjølvhalda er et verktøy som har vært brukt i vestnorsk og nordnorsk båtbygging i hundrevis av år. Sjølvhalda kombinerer båtklemme og mothold, og brukes under klinking av saum. Båtbyggeren kan klinke med to hammere samtidig slik at klinkinga går raskere. The sjølvhalde (“self holder“) is a boat building tool that is unique in lapstrake boat building in western and northern Norway. It combines boat clamp and dolly, and allows the boat builder to clinker with both hands. The self holder was probably invented hundreds of years ago.
