Near the 100th anniversary of Britain’s surrender of Kut-al-Amara (present day Iraq), learn how World War I’s dark inheritance is especially apparent in a core territory made up of five countries – Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Israel – and one seemingly permanent non-state, Palestine. Dr. John Calvert, Professor of Middle East History at Creighton University will explore the emergence of the modern Middle East including the roles played by T.E.
