Repair of full thickness upper eyelid laceration

I believe that full-thickness lid lacerations should only be repaired by ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons. Repairing the anterior and posterior lamella separately is mandatory, as is precisely repairing the eyelid margin. Traditionally, permanent sutures are used at the eyelid margin, however I have used 7-0 Vicryl suture now for the last 2 decades with rarely any problems.
