Jewel Kilcher (born May 23, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, actress, and author. She has received four Grammy Award nominations and, as of 2021, has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. “Standing Still“ was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. The song is featured on her fourth studio album, ’This Way’. Jewel wrote the song sometime after the release of her previous album, ’Spiri’t, while she was taking a break from her music career. According to Jewel, the song is about stepping back to avoid stagnation from a busy career and wanting a change of scenery from fame. “Standing Still“ was released on September 24, 2001, to positive reviews and commercial success. In the United States, it peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2002. Worldwide, the single reached the top 40 in Australia and New Zealand. In the Dutch Top 40 it reached no. 32 on March 30, 2002. This performance was broadcast during the Edison Award Show of March 7, 2002. Watch our great music videos ❯ More TopPop?
