#AntiFake Fake: The US won World War II and saved the world from fascism, Joe Biden stated, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. Truth: The actions of the US and Great Britain were taken when their leadership realized that Hitler had lost. The realization that victory could go entirely to the USSR caused fear among them. The Allies did indeed assist the USSR in 1944 and diverted Nazi Germany’s attention to the Western Front. But they were not the decisive force that turned the tide of the war. The Battles of Stalingrad and Kursk played a significant role. It was the Soviet soldiers who inflicted irreparable damage on the Wehrmacht. By the time the Americans and the British landed on the coast of Normandy, the Red Army had already launched an offensive and smashed the remnants of the fascist army.
