Taylor Swift - Happiness (a fan film) | Written & Directed by Kelsey Pribilski Ray

Here she is; my directorial debut. Those who know me probably aren’t surprised that the first thing I chose to direct was a Taylor Swift fan short film. Did anyone ask me to make this? Nope. But she’s such a phenomenal lyricist, that every time I listened to this song a little story would start creeping its way into my brain. Finally, last January I gave myself permission to sit down with it, let the story fully come and worked up the courage by June to start planning a shoot. From there I saved up money (booking a national commercial definitely helped), and slowly started gathering props and wardrobe items. I got some wonderful crew members that helped me pull the whole thing off in early October and haven’t slept out of anxiousness since. I never intended on directing anything, but the strikes and constant fight to be visible to those in charge left me feeling a little too helpless and this was my way of taking some power back.
