In 2010, Oprah Show correspondent Lisa Ling met Kanzi, a bonobo who had learned to communicate using a keyboard with symbols called lexigrams. Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh, a primatologist, told Lisa that there were 450 words on Kanzi's keyboard that he could understand, but she guessed that the ape actually knew several thousand words.
