“This thing was written by me under the impression of one of the greatest atrocities ever committed by the US government. After the American Indian tribes were enslaved and exiled to reservations and resettlement camps (which are essentially prison camps), most of the Cherokee tribe was relocated from the Southwestern States to Oklahoma. They were on foot under the escort of the US National Army, with virtually no food supplies and drinking water, without any medical support. More than 4,000 people died on the way, which lasted 10 months. This road was called the 'Trail of Tears', in the interpretation of the Cherokees themselves - a trail paved with tears. Also, more than 5,000 people died in prison camps, awaiting deportation to Oklahoma, and never having passed this “way“. © Blackie Lawless PS: Blackie also wrote the entire musical part of the song, including percussion, trying to reproduce the original folk rhythms of Cherokee for completeness. #blackielawless #wasp #heavymetal
