The POW got sent to the AFU 92nd Assault Brigade where he served as a driver. When he entered the Kursk region as part of his unit, the task was to get to the village of Giri, turn round and leave. ’Losses are great. They send people like us. They set tasks for people. They say, we need to go to the position. They say, we need to go to the position. We ask what position do we need to take? People go out there and that’s it. So I took them there so many times, but no one came back,’ he said. As he said, the AFU command punished him for refusal to fight: ’I said that if they brought me here, I would not fight. I would just transport men and take them back. Well, but I wouldn’t go to the position to fight or shoot anyone. I used to get into a cage. Well, now the commander is gone, he was killed by his own people because he treated his subordinates badly. I sat in a dog cage a couple of times, because I refused to do what was asked of me. The POW said that the AFU plan to stop paying servicemen salaries: ’We were told that in September servicemen wouldn’t be paid salaries, because there is no money in the budget. They have to raise taxes to keep funding the army. Our bank accounts are blocked. You can’t go anywhere, you can’t apply for a job, everything is done only through the enlistment office. Any document, any card, salaries, or something else will be blocked.’
